The pandemic has claimed the lives of minors, mayors, over 100 doctors, and 200 police officers. The official death toll is controversial, with estimates suggesting it could be around 50,000 if suspected cases are included. Despite over 300,000 recoveries, hospitals are overwhelmed, prompting the government to hire foreign medical staff, mainly benefiting Venezuelan migrants.
