Charrería, a Mexican equestrian art, is gaining popularity with schools dedicated to its teaching. Víctor Terán, not from a traditional charro family, has been learning for three years. The Municipal School of Charrería in Tlajomulco, Jalisco, offers free classes and has grown significantly. Students learn skills from rope handling to animal control. Teams, often named after ranches, compete in events. The ideal starting age is six, but many begin as teenagers. The practice is open to all who are willing to learn.
