Spain confirmed a case of dengue transmitted sexually between two men, marking a global first for a virus typically spread by mosquitoes. The case involved a 41-year-old man infected by his partner, who contracted the virus in Cuba. This intrigued scientists as the infected man had not traveled to any dengue-endemic regions. Tests confirmed the virus in both men's semen, matching a strain circulating in Cuba. Previously, a potential sexual transmission case was reported in South Korea. Like dengue, the Zika virus is primarily mosquito-borne but can also be sexually transmitted.
