Moafak, a 70-year-old man, refuses to leave his home in Mosul despite the ongoing conflict and hardships. The city, under siege by Iraqi soldiers trying to reclaim it from ISIS, has faced severe shortages of basic supplies. Moafak recounts how ISIS fighters forced him to leave temporarily, hiding a car bomb in his garage and filling his basement with rockets. Despite these threats, he remains steadfast, living with his family in the house he built over 30 years ago. For Moafak, leaving his home would mean losing his identity and value, even as the area nears liberation.
