New York City officials are monitoring weather forecasts for the parade, as strong winds could prevent balloons from flying. This concern arises from past incidents, such as the 1997 Cat in the Hat balloon accident. Historically, balloons have only been grounded once due to rain in 1971. Last year, balloons flew at a lower level due to wind. This year's parade will proceed with or without balloons, featuring 26 floats, 1200 cheerleaders, 11 marching bands, and over 1000 clowns.
