Survivors, displaced and living on the streets, called for dignified housing. The tragedy's symbol, a raised fist, emerged from rescue efforts. Personal survival stories highlighted the earthquake's impact, including a dramatic escape from a collapsing building. At Colegio Repzamen, a memorial was held for 19 children and 7 adults who died. Despite the destruction of numerous buildings, the government has yet to provide figures on the homeless population.
