VOICED : Más de 900 mujeres desaparecieron en Perú durante la cuarentena

During the COVID-19 quarantine in Peru, over 900 women disappeared, with a significant increase in daily cases. Most missing women were minors or in their reproductive age. Activists criticize the lack of police action, attributing it to assumptions of voluntary departure. Peru faces high feminicide rates, with many cases initially reported as disappearances. In 2019, 166 feminicides occurred, and during the first months of quarantine, 12 feminicides and 26 attempts were recorded. Additionally, 226 minors suffered sexual abuse, and there were nearly 28,000 domestic violence reports.
