Northern Mosul remains largely under ISIS control, with intelligence estimating fewer than 700 fighters. The Iraqi air force has dropped leaflets urging civilians to flee combat zones. Supported by a US-led coalition, Iraqi forces launched an offensive in October to reclaim Mosul, held by ISIS since June 2014.
