The European Union has approved the return of tourists from the United States, even if they are not vaccinated. However, travelers may face additional measures such as testing or quarantine upon arrival. With the summer season approaching, the EU aims to boost economic activity by allowing travelers from third countries. The EU had closed its borders in March 2020 and maintains a list of countries whose citizens can enter as tourists. To be on this list, a country must have fewer than 75 new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the previous 14 days. The EU is also implementing a health pass to facilitate travel within the bloc, certifying vaccination, negative test results, or immunity from previous infection.
