The drought has severely impacted maize production, with over 43,000 hectares affected, primarily in the eastern part of the country. Many farmers have lost their entire crops, leading to significant economic hardship. A total of 77,322 producers have been affected. The rainy season in Central America typically runs from May to November, but the lack of rain has disrupted this pattern.
