During the Qatar 2022 World Cup, Doha displayed images of Pelé on buildings to show support as he was hospitalized in Brazil for a respiratory infection. Brazilian fans also showed their support with a giant flag. Pelé, 82, was admitted to the Hospital Albert Einstein in São Paulo for a reevaluation of his colon cancer treatment. Doctors reported improvement in his health, but he remains hospitalized. Pelé shared on Instagram that his hospital visit was routine and thanked fans for their support.
