Sophia Danenberg: the Mountain Climber

Sophia Dannenberg became the first Black woman to climb Mount Everest. Her climbing journey began with Mount Rainer in 2002, followed by scaling five peaks in 2005, including the Grand Teton and Mount Denali. In 2006, at age 34, she planned and executed a climb of Mount Everest, reaching the summit on May 19 after two months.
