Antidepressant can reduce sever COVID symptoms

A study published in The Lancet Global Health journal found that fluvoxamine can reduce severe COVID-19 symptoms by targeting cytokines and blood platelets. Cytokines, small proteins produced by immune cells, can cause a cytokine storm, leading to lung damage and respiratory failure. Fluvoxamine may help reduce cytokine production and blood platelet levels, potentially preventing deadly blood clots. In the study, fewer patients treated with fluvoxamine required hospitalization compared to those given a placebo.
