Vodafone mobile phones in the 1980s

Over the past few years, business communication in Britain has transformed significantly. Mobile phones, once a niche product, are now available in high street outlets, with Vodafone opening a shop in Swindon. While most subscribers are medium or large businesses, Vodafone aims to target small businesses. Computers can also use the cellular network, though hardware is mainly produced by American and Japanese companies. Vodafone plans to float the company in October, amid competition from cable and wireless providers.
