VOICED : Siria: Inician evacuaciones medicas en Guta Oriental

Medical evacuations from Guta Oriental, a rebel stronghold in Syria, began with the transfer of three children and an adult out of 29 patients. The region has been under government siege since 2013, leading to severe shortages of food and medical care. The UN has repeatedly called for the evacuation of nearly 500 people, but 16 have died due to delays. The evacuations were made possible by an agreement with the Syrian regime, which involves the release of prisoners held by rebels. Guta Oriental is one of four de-escalation zones established by Russia, Iran, and Turkey to facilitate a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict, which has claimed over 340,000 lives since 2011. Despite the agreement, the regime has intensified attacks on the region since mid-November.
