VOICED : Desfile contra intolerancia religiosa vence el carnaval de Rio

The Escola de Samba Grande Rio won the Rio de Janeiro Carnival for the first time, with a theme centered on Xu Oriya, an Afro-Brazilian deity. The artistic director, Leandro Vora, aimed to challenge religious racism. After pandemic-related delays, the carnival returned with vibrant performances, drawing 70,000 spectators. Beja Flor and Viradouro secured second and third places, respectively. The top six schools will perform again, focusing on themes against racism and religious intolerance.
