FDA Raises Minimum Age To Purchase Tobacco Products To 21

The US raised the legal age to buy tobacco products from 18 to 21, affecting cigarettes, cigars, and vape products. This change is part of a $1.4 trillion spending package signed by President Trump, which also funds the US-Mexico border wall and mental health programs. The legislation, supported by both parties, was introduced by Mitch McConnell and Tim Kaine. Initially, the FDA had up to six months to amend policies, but it is now illegal to sell tobacco to anyone under 21. Prior to this, 19 states and DC had already set the age at 21.
