Kirobo Mini, developed by Toyota, is a small robot designed to engage in simple conversations and respond to emotions, aiming to assist people with socialization challenges. It measures 10 cm and was set to launch in Japan in 2017 for around $400. The robot and its companions were showcased at the IT&Electronics Comprehensive Exhibition in Tokyo, where various robots demonstrated functions like playing ping-pong and home assistance. Japan faces social challenges such as an aging population and hikikomori, and Kirobo Mini aims to provide companionship to those affected.
