VOICED : Uruguay vuelve al Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU

Uruguay has rejoined the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member after 50 years. The government is committed to promoting dialogue and humanistic values in conflict resolution. Uruguay is particularly concerned about the humanitarian crisis in Syria. The country has a strong history of contributing to UN peacekeeping missions, having provided over 40,000 personnel. Uruguay was elected to the Council alongside Egypt, Japan, Senegal, and Ukraine in an uncontested vote.
