Vicente Carrillo Fuentes, former leader of the Juárez Cartel, was sentenced to 28 years in prison by Mexico's Attorney General. Known as El Viceroy, he was captured in 2014 and found guilty of health-related crimes, money laundering, and arms possession. He is the brother of Amado Carrillo Fuentes, the infamous Señor de los Cielos, who was a powerful drug lord until his death in 1997. The U.S. has offered a $2.2 million reward for his capture. After Amado's death, El Viceroy took over the cartel, which operates in Ciudad Juárez. The cartel has weakened due to leadership arrests and conflicts with other gangs, like the Sinaloa Cartel led by Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán, who is serving a life sentence in the U.S.
