VOICED : Pacientes recuperados donan plasma para estudio experimental en Argentina

The Argentine Ministry of Health is conducting an experimental study using convalescent plasma from recovered COVID-19 patients to treat those in the acute phase of the disease. This plasma contains antibodies that provide passive immunity. The plasma is processed industrially to create drugs from hyperimmune immunoglobulins, which are used to treat infections and autoimmune diseases. Although the safety and efficacy of this treatment are not yet confirmed, preliminary studies are promising. Plasma has been used for decades to combat diseases like O'Higgins in Argentina. The country is under mandatory quarantine, with significant COVID-19 cases and fatalities.
