Origin and Diversity of Amphibians

Amphibians evolved from lobe-finned fishes, adapting to land with legs and lungs. They first appeared 370 million years ago and now include over 6000 species across three orders: Anura, Eurodella, and Apoda. Anura includes frogs and toads, with differences in skin texture. Eurodella consists of salamanders and newts, characterized by elongated bodies and tails. Apoda are legless, tropical soil-dwelling amphibians. Amphibian populations are declining, raising environmental concerns.
