Calif. Governor Bans Some Indoor Business; Some Schools To Go Online

Governor Gavin Newsom ordered the closure of indoor operations at bars, restaurants, and other venues statewide due to rising COVID-19 cases. Additional closures were mandated in 30 counties, affecting gyms, hair salons, and churches. California reported a seven-day average of over 8,600 new cases, with approximately 330,000 confirmed cases and 7,000 deaths. Schools in Los Angeles and San Diego will start the year online, serving over 800,000 students. The Trump administration has threatened to withhold federal funds from schools that do not fully reopen.
