Yunda: A Sustainable Energy Success Story

Uyinda is the first German community to transition from fossil fuels to bioenergy. The village uses a bioenergy plant that processes manure and maize to produce heat and electricity, generating twice the energy needed by the village. The surplus is sold to the national grid. The plant cost €5.2 million, with 28% subsidized by the government. Residents save on energy bills, and the plant prevents 3300 tons of CO2 emissions annually. The bioenergy process is sustainable, with byproducts used as fertilizer. The plant continues to expand, and other regions are observing Uyinda's success.
