Human Rights Watch has urged the Greek government to release hundreds of unaccompanied migrant children and provide them with safe housing to protect against COVID-19. As of March 31, 331 children were detained in poor conditions, lacking basic hygiene and access to medical, psychological, or legal support. Greece has around 5,200 unaccompanied migrant children. A European program aims to relocate 1,600 minors, with 12 children moving to Luxembourg and 50 to Germany. Currently, 100,000 asylum seekers reside in Greece, with 70,000 in camps.
