Worms frozen in permafrost have been brought back to life after 42,000 years by Russian scientists

A collaboration with Princeton University discovered 300 prehistoric worms in Yucatia, one of the coldest regions in Russia. The Siberian Times reported that two of these worms contained viable nematodes, also known as roundworms. One worm was found in ancient squirrel burrows in permafrost, while the other was located by a river. After being defrosted in a Moscow laboratory, the worms began to move, eat, and exhibit other signs of life.
