Schistosomiasis affects millions in developing countries, especially in Africa. The disease is caused by parasitic worms called schistosomes, which multiply in snails and infect humans through water contact. Symptoms include blood in urine, but treatment with Preziquantil is effective and affordable. However, access to the drug is limited. A Schistosomiasis Control initiative, funded by the Gates Foundation, aims to provide treatment to affected regions.
