Juan Guaidó, the opposition leader of Venezuela, condemned the recent attacks on Venezuelan immigrants in Peru, labeling them as crimes. He distanced the Peruvian government from these incidents, despite accusations from Nicolás Maduro's government that Peru was fostering xenophobia. Guaidó emphasized these were isolated cases and called for reflection among those committing such acts. Over 850,000 Venezuelans have migrated to Peru due to economic collapse, with more than 3.5 million leaving Venezuela since 2016. Peru has expelled 890 irregular Venezuelan migrants and returned 245 with criminal records.
