Understanding Earthquakes

An earthquake is the movement or shaking of the ground caused by sudden movements between rock masses in the Earth's crust. Stress and tension build up over time, and when they exceed the rock's strength, the rock breaks or moves along faults. This generates energy waves that travel outward, similar to ripples in water. While some earthquakes are imperceptible, others can cause significant property damage.
