Greenland Lost Record 586 Billion Tons of Ice In 2019

A recent study highlights that Greenland's ice melt reached 586 billion tons, surpassing the 2012 record. This melt could cover California in over four feet of water, equating to more than 140 trillion gallons. The accelerated melting is attributed to climate change and contributes to rising sea levels, potentially causing coastal flooding. Last year alone, Greenland's melt added 0.06 inches to global sea levels, a significant change according to NASA scientist Alex Gardner.
