VOICED : Violentas protestas contra proyecto de ley de coca en Bolivia

In La Paz, Bolivia, police clashed with coca producers protesting a government proposal to limit coca cultivation to 20,000 hectares. The protest resulted in 148 arrests. Coca is traditionally used in Bolivia for medicinal and ritual purposes, but when processed, it becomes a drug. The UN reported Bolivia as the third-largest coca producer in 2015. An EU-funded study in 2013 indicated Bolivia needs only 14,700 hectares to meet local demand.
