VOICED: El adios a Carlos Fuentes

On a Wednesday, many gathered at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City to bid farewell to Carlos Fuentes, a significant figure in Latin American literature. The crowd, diverse in age and nationality, paid tribute by leaving books, flowers, and messages. Before the public farewell, a private ceremony was held with Mexican President Felipe Calderón and cultural figures. Fuentes, author of notable works and winner of the 1987 Cervantes Prize, passed away at 83. His widow, Silvia Lemus, announced that his remains would be cremated and buried in Paris alongside their children, Carlos and Natasha.
