VOICED: In Egypt, demand grows for female bodyguards

In a suburban gym, women are training to become bodyguards, not just for fitness but to protect other women. Selected by a private security firm, they undergo rigorous training in martial arts and surveillance. This niche service caters to successful Arab women who need protection but cannot hire male bodyguards due to cultural norms. Since 2006, around 300 Lady Guards have been trained, working for businesswomen, royalty, and pop stars. The growing demand for Lady Guards reflects a shift in Egyptian society, where women are breaking into various fields and achieving success. As Arab women continue to advance, the need for female protection grows.
