Argentina reaffirms its commitment to the IMF under the new Economy Minister, Silvina Bataki. The country has entered a new agreement with the IMF to replace the previous stand-by arrangement, aiming to reduce the fiscal deficit from 3% to 2.5% of GDP in 2022, with further reductions planned. The former minister, Martín Guzmán, resigned unexpectedly. Argentina's economy, which contracted by 9.9% in 2020, rebounded by 10.3% in 2021, and is projected to grow by 4% in 2022. To achieve fiscal balance, energy subsidies will be reduced. Inflation is a significant issue, with a 60% increase over the past year, and the Central Bank expects it to reach 76% by the end of the year.
