VOICED : Campesinos exigen en Mexico fin de explotacion

Over 7,000 Mexican farmers are protesting in Baja California for better wages to escape poverty. The protest precedes a meeting with federal officials to address a labor conflict ongoing for over a month. Previously, some workers received a 15% wage increase, which they find inadequate. The workers demand their daily wage be increased from under $8 to $13. The government estimates over two million Mexican laborers live in near-slavery conditions, earning between $4 and $7 daily without contracts or social benefits, despite working up to 10 hours a day.
