Isaac Papke, a 39-year-old Hawaiian-born grandfather, attempts a historic long-distance swim from the Falarone Islands to Stinson Beach. After three years of training, he starts strong, maintaining a steady pace with the help of pacers and a doctor on a pilot boat. However, as night falls, his stroke weakens, and despite being just two and a half miles from his goal, his doctor pulls him from the water. Undeterred, Papke plans to try again next spring.
