Nefertiti and Akhenaten part 2: Religious Upheaval and Worship of Aten

Akanartan moved the capital to Akatatan, breaking from Thebes and Memphis. This move was partly due to conflicts with the priesthood and the rise of new religious ideas. Akanartan and Nefertiti introduced monotheism, focusing on Aten, the sun disc, and built open-air temples. They changed their names to reflect this new religious focus, with Nefertiti possibly becoming a co-ruler.
