The Ecuadorian Armed Forces destroyed thousands of firearms in Guayaquil, including pistols and machine guns. Around 4,200 weapons were destroyed in the first process on May 21, with a total of 5,500 lethal firearms destroyed. Non-lethal weapons and accessories seized nationwide between 2020 and 2021 were also destroyed. These items were confiscated during Cámex operations through voluntary surrender or judicial rulings. The public can confirm the destruction of these illegal weapons, which enhances national security. The event at Ecuador's National Steelworks was attended by police, military, civilians, and OAS representatives.
