Space Force’s new ‘orbital warfare’ unit gets space jet

The US Space Force was established in December 2019. Less than a year later, it took ownership of the Air Force's experimental space plane, the X37B. This unmanned vehicle, operated by the new Space Force unit Delta 9, is designed for orbital warfare and intelligence gathering. The X37B is more maneuverable than traditional satellites, allowing for flexible operations in space.
