Couple Travels To Ukraine To Save Family, Help War Effort

Adrian Bonenberger, an Army veteran, and Irina Solanco, a Ukrainian journalist, left their peaceful life in Connecticut to assist in Ukraine during the war. They aimed to help Irina's parents escape from Kiev, where Russian forces were attacking. While waiting, they contributed to the war effort; Irina coordinated supplies, and Adrian trained local volunteers. Despite challenges, Irina's parents eventually reached safety in Lviv. Now in the U.S., they reflect on their experiences and plan to return to Ukraine when possible.
