Ghost Army

The Ghost Army was a secret U.S. unit during WWII that used deception to mislead Axis forces. Formed by Colonel Billy Harris and Major Ralph Ingersoll, it employed artists and engineers to create fake military units using inflatable tanks, sound effects, and false radio transmissions. This unit completed over 20 missions, including participation in D-Day, saving thousands of Allied lives. Members were sworn to secrecy for 50 years, and their contributions were only recognized in 2022 with the Ghost Army Congressional Gold Medal Act.
