The artifacts, primarily from Teotihuacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca, and the Olmec and Maya regions, have unclear origins. Despite Mexico's appeal, the auction house, Casa Milón, intends to proceed, asserting the legitimacy of the sale. This is not the first time Mexico has contested such sales, as seen in the 2013 Barbier-Müller collection case.
