VOICED : 6 presos de Guantanamo van a Uruguay

The United States plans to release six prisoners from Guantánamo Bay to Uruguay in early August, following an agreement between President Obama and Uruguayan President José Mujica. Mujica had previously announced Uruguay's readiness to accept the prisoners as free individuals. Of the 149 detainees at Guantánamo, 78 have been approved for transfer as they pose no threat to the US. This transfer to Uruguay will be the largest simultaneous release in years. Under Obama's administration, 89 detainees have been released, with about half sent to third countries. Once the six prisoners are released, 143 will remain at Guantánamo, most held for over 12 years without charges or trial.
