Airstrikes and rocket attacks on Eastern Ghouta threaten a humanitarian truce in Syria, declared by Russia. Two people died and 16 were injured. Russia announced humanitarian corridors for civilian evacuation, but rebels launched rockets to prevent this. Rebel factions agreed with the UN to expel jihadists in exchange for the truce. Ghouta has been under siege since 2013, with 560 deaths in recent bombings. The city, home to nearly 400,000 people, has around 700 needing urgent medical evacuation.
