The Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, inaugurated a new Chinese embassy in the Dominican Republic, marking a significant step in the diplomatic relations established on April 30. Previously, the Dominican Republic recognized Taiwan as a country, but now acknowledges China's global role and seeks its support in international organizations. During his visit, Wang Yi met with Dominican President Danilo Medina, who plans to visit China to meet President Xi Jinping. China is the Dominican Republic's second-largest trading partner after the United States.
