The US government, in collaboration with Kaiser Health News, has secured an additional 100 million doses of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine, aiming to double the national supply. Pfizer is expected to deliver 70 million doses by June and 30 million more by July 31st, with an option for the government to purchase up to 400 million more doses. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar assures that there will be enough vaccines for every American by next summer. Additionally, the government will pay Merck up to $356 million for 60,000 to 100,000 doses of its COVID treatment, which is pending FDA emergency authorization.
