A 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck Guatemala, causing one death and over 80 injuries. In San Marcos, a newborn died when a hospital ceiling collapsed. The quake affected 21,000 people in Guatemala and had its epicenter near Tapachula, Mexico, where two deaths and four injuries were reported. Guatemalan President Otto Pérez, who was in Chiapas at the time, reported that 12 of the 22 departments in Guatemala were affected, with over 100 homes damaged, half beyond repair.
