Lena Baker, an African American woman from Georgia, was convicted for the fatal shooting of EB Knight, a white mill operator she cared for. Despite claiming self-defense against his threats, she was convicted by an all-white jury and executed in 1945, becoming the only woman in Georgia to be executed by electrocution. Her grave remained unmarked for decades until a church congregation raised funds for a marker. In 2005, she was posthumously pardoned. Her life story was later depicted in the movie 'The Lena Baker Story'.
