What Is Sound?: Sound

Sound is a form of energy created by vibrating matter. It travels through different mediums such as air, liquids, and solids. In air, sound can be heard when a guitar string is plucked. In liquids, whales communicate over long distances. Sound also travels through solids, like when knocking on a door. However, in space, sound cannot travel due to the lack of a medium.
