Amaya Coppens, a 25-year-old Belgian student, was arrested for the second time in Nicaragua while trying to deliver water to hunger-striking women demanding the release of political prisoners. She became a prominent figure in the 2018 student protests against President Daniel Ortega. Previously imprisoned in 2018, she was released under an amnesty law but is now detained again pending a judicial decision.
